Embracing the Stream at Walnut Creek

The chance to create an iconic work art for Walnut Creek Business Park became a reality after Katy Moses, ASLD, shared my work with Steve Rasmussen, Regional Partner of MIE Properties.

Realizing that movement and flowing water will always capture our human imagination, I began defining "Embracing the Stream" in a sketch and a small machette to share my vision for the Walnut Creek area of Westminster, Colorado.

Breathing Life into the Concept.

The first sketches were presented as an ideag, followed by 1/12 scale machette for approval. Then a full size cardboard model of the bronze and the stone base were brought to the site for aproval by Steve, and Patrick Caldwell of the City of Westminster.

Locating the full-scale model next to a pond became a defining statement. "Embracing the Stream" reflects the Walnut Creek name and the movement of water in bronze that connects the two part sculpture. The patterns of blue patina reflecting off the water reminds us of the natural landscape and the personal discovery of Walnut Creek as it winds throughout the City of Westminster.

Looking underneatch a 1725 pound sculpture can be a risk, but promises a perfect fit.
